We go to the Harz Mountains once a year and always look forward to a visit to the castle. Here you can enjoy delicious coffee and cake in a nice atmosphere and buy nice accessories. ?

The owners built everything themselves, the apartments, the café and the lovely shop. Everything is well thought out and lovingly designed. Really a special place.

In the Cafe vom Schloss there are delicious homemade cakes, with coffee there is an extra egg liqueur with icing, nice service, you can sit outside and inside and in a small shop there is tasteful decoration and home textiles.

In the south of the Lower Harz, Stiege Castle towers majestically on a cliff overlooking the diverse landscape of Stieges with its mountain meadows, forests and lakes. The castle is one of the few preserved buildings of the early High Middle Ages and was probably built as a hunting lodge or as a resting place for Harzdurchquerungen during the reign of Henry I in 919. Later it was rebuilt, fortified and expanded in the possession of the counts of Blankenburg-Reinstein to the count's residence and manor. When at the time of the peasant war in 1525 insurgent peasants from Allrode besieged the Stieger castle, the Stieger inhabitants protected their countess Anna. In retaliation, the Blankenburg counts burned Allrode down. The castle was once cut off from the mountainside by a moat and connected by a 12 meter high drawbridge. However, the moat was filled in and demolished the former Zugbrückenturm. Since 1892, the castle is privately owned and was already used as a sanatorium, children's cures and as a retirement home.

We felt very comfortable. A great atmosphere. Friendly and sociable service. The home-baked cake was great and the huge Kaffeepötte awesome. Even our 12 year old daughter was thrilled. I can absolutely recommend it. Please note: No reservation is possible without reservation, as the café is extremely popular.
